$10 out of pocket fee for all weekend bulk-billed appointments

What is changing?

Due to the rising costs of providing weekend services, it is necessary to charge an out of pocket fee to maintain the level of care our clinic provides.

Beginning on Saturday 4th March 2017, all weekend bulk-billed appointments will incur a $10 out of pocket fee.

Who will be affected?

The new $10 out of pocket fee will only apply to appointments on the weekend for patients who are normally bulk-billed. There are no changes to the full-fee paying patients as they already pay an out of pocket fee.

How is this fee paid?

This fee plus the rebate amount is payable in full on the day of your consultation.

For patients with a bank account registered with Medicare, we can submit an electronic claim on your behalf. The Medicare Benefit amount will then be repaid into your nominated bank account usually by the next business day.

For more information, please call Medicare on 132 011 or ask at reception for a copy of the Medicare Bank Account Details Collection form.

This form is also available on the Department of Human Services website via this link: https://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/forms/ms013

We are now AGPAL accredited!

Chelsea increased its community health credentials today when Chelsea Beach Medical received a national award of accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to quality and safety within its practice.

Chelsea Beach Medical received this important recognition from Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL), the leading not-for-profit provider of general practice accreditation services within Australia.

AGPAL Chair Dr Richard Choong said accreditation shows the practice makes a significant investment and commitment to quality on a day-to-day basis, across all levels of the practice team.

"Achieving accreditation is a major achievement for any practice and a clear demonstration that Chelsea Beach Medical is striving to improve their level of care to both patients and the community," he said. "Practices seek accreditation because they want to do their best and view this as another step towards excellence in patient care."

To achieve accreditation, a practice team works over a 12 month period to implement the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices, (the recognised national standard), which provides a template for quality care and risk management.

"Everyone at the practice plays a valuable role in working to meet the RACGP standards. It gives staff a real sense of pride to work in an accredited practice," added Dr Choong.
Chelsea Beach Medical proudly displays the AGPAL symbol for all their patients to see.

"We want community members, nation-wide to know that their wellbeing is our priority. By choosing to attend an accredited practice, patients know they will get quality and safe care that meets the RACGP Standards."

Accreditation was developed jointly by AGPAL and primary health organisations and peak bodies, including the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

Happy Birthday!

Exactly one year ago, CBMC opened our doors for the first time. We were excited but nervous as we started from scratch.

Over the last year, we shared many laughs with our patients, met some great locals and also had some difficult conversations.

Thank you to our patients, family and friends for your support over the last year and we look forward to providing you with the level of care you have come to expect from CBMC.
